Workshop Instructions! A collage workshop with Amogh Bhatnagar
About the workshop:
In a time when seemingly random imagery can be generated in seconds using prompts, this workshop hopes to be a space to unpack 'prompting' as a creative medium (but not in the sense that big evil corporations want us to think), creating a simplified 'generative' method to create unique artworks, and see how the creative process can involve elements of borrowing (collage, decoupage, quilting), following instructions (think 'confusing' IKEA instruction manuals), and generative possibilities where the outcome is determined through a set of variables. We will provide all the materials for the collage, but participants are free to bring their own.
We will work with collage mainly, no need to bring any tools :)
About the artist:
Amogh works on research, deliberation, and reflection over communication design through projects spanning across publication design, curation, editorial illustration, visual identities, and design writing. He is currently a designer at New Delhi based design studio Squadron 14.
In his editorial illustrations, Amogh works primarily with collage and drawing, and within graphic design, he is interested in making and typesetting books and printed matter, among other things. He has also been a part of curatorial teams for art and design exhibitions in India and the UK.
This workshop is made possible in collaboration with Halden Bookworks!
